Peg Dublin
Peg is an RN with an advanced degree of public health. She has spent her career working to eliminate racial disparities as well as to create and build health programs that empower women and families. Peg lives in Chicago, works part time in a neighborhood health center as well as at CHI. She has been involved with Centering groups since 2006. She loves to travel, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and be active in nature and social justice.
Anna Gaudion
Anna is a midwife based in London with an academic background in Anthropology and the arts. She lead the first feasibility study of group care in England in 2008, adapting the model and providing training to the present day. She is a bellringer and a bee keeper.
Carrie Klima
Carrie is a nurse midwife and Midwifery Program Director at the University of Illinois Chicago. She has been involved in midwifery education for over 25 years. She is a founding board member of Centering Healthcare Institute and was a CHI consultant in the US assisting healthcare systems to implement and sustain Centering groups. Dr Klima has practiced group antenatal care and has participated in group care research in the US and Africa. Her research team created the Pregnancy Related Empowerment Scale (PRES) which has been used internationally to measure women’s empowerment in group antenatal care.
Jalana Lazar
Lazar is a midwife with twelve years of experience in facilitating and implementing group care. She is also pursuing a PhD at City University of London researching group antenatal care. She currently divides her time between Yellow Springs, Ohio, and the U.K. She loves learning languages and swimming in oceans with her children.
Amy MacDonald
Amy MacDonald, CNM, MSN, graduated from Yale University School of Nursing in 1991 and has been working as a Certified Nurse Midwife for 30 years. She founded the Duke Midwifery Service within the Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1999 and has enjoyed empowering families through CenteringPregnancy groups in English and Spanish since 2004. As a consultant for the Centering Healthcare Institute since 2008, Amy has led organizations through the implementation of group care and has facilitated trainings nationally and internationally. She is married, has two sons, a dog, and knits whenever she can.
Annemiek van der Kraan
Annemiek is a trainer, consultant and advisor for CenteringPregnancy and Parenting. She became a registered midwife about 35 years ago and has worked in independent midwifery practices in several areas in the Netherlands. Since 1990 she is also a teacher connected to one of the Academies of Midwifery in the Netherlands and provided Teach the Teacher courses all over the world (Pakistan, India, Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia ). Annemiek was involved in the start of CenteringPregnancy in the Netherlands in 2012 and has been a trainer in this concept since then. She believes this innovative type of care is contributing to better healthcare and the inclusion of women.
Kathy Trotter
For almost 20 years, Kathy has facilitated Shared Medical Visits using the Centering model, as well as provided national consultation for clinic practice sites to adapt the model to their own sites. She has trained over 250 persons in Centering facilitation and assisted over 30 sites in system redesign and initation of CenteringPregnancy, and CenteringParenting. She remains in active clinic practice and is also an Associate Professor and the lead faculty for the Women’s Health NP major at Duke University. She enjoys outdoor activities, especially bicycling and gardening, and travel in her free time.
Yvonne Strengers
Yvonne is a trainer, consultant and advisor with CenteringPregnancy and Parenting. In the 90’s she worked nearly three years as a nurse in Nigeria running a primary health care clinic. Returning to Europe she decided to be trained as a midwife in Britain. Working as an independent midwife in the Netherlands she and her colleagues started Centering Pregnancy in their midwifery practice. She was impressed with the impact of the program on the families’ health and well-being. Yvonne combines her work as a clinical midwife in a hospital near Amsterdam with being a Centering Pregnancy and Parenting trainer/consultant. She also loves to travel and hike with her husband and son.
Ho-Yu Pan
Ho-Yu Pan has over three decades of experience as a nurse midwife, with extensive experience in high risk obstetric care at Duke University Medical Center. Originally from Hong Kong, she received her BSN in North Carolina Central University and her MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. She is a certified perinatal childbirth educator in the US and a certified Nurse midwife in Hongkong.
Beyond her professional practice, Ho-Yu is an active leader in nursing education. She has traveled to China annually over the past twelve years to teach and facilitate hospital nurse midwife and nurse training of evidence based obstetric practices. In her free time, Ho-Yu loves to paint, knit, travel and have tea with friends.
